Problems with brand new MSI

I recently bought an MSI laptop for around $2000 brand new and it has a lot of lag. Not when I play games necessarily but just browsing the internet there will be delays when scrolling or opening new pages, or just about anything. It is running off of it's dedicated graphics card. It is charging. It is in high performance mode. I can't think of anything else. I am wondering if anyone has any other suggestions that I could try or if you guys think it is just a bad unit and I should try to get it replaced

Have you run any malware scans? Ccleaner..etc? It might be something as simple as crap built up, also programs loading on start and running in background unnecessarily.

How long have you had it? Is it possible if those above suggestions don't work to perform a fresh install of your operating system and start over clean.

What O/S are you running? Windows 10?

I've done a full system scan with Norton, as well as Ccleaner. I had turned off all unnecessary startup programs but I'm running windows 10 so as far as background processes it is hard to tell how much of it is necessary, for me at least. I've had the laptop for about a week and the problem has been around since I first started using it.
 
A fresh install of Windows 10 is a good idea if only to get rid of the utter junk that the laptop manufaturer has put on it. The other observation that I have made, and this is purely what I have found on my cheapy Dell laptop, is that Microsoft's Anniversary update slows your browsing down as does using an adblocker especially Adblock Plus. Also using Edge is a browsing experience killer. If you are using Edge try using Internet Explorer instead. It is on your Windows 10 computer but it is hidden. Search Internet Explorer.

The file directory would be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\Iexplore.exe"

Then just create a shortcut on the desktop or copy the file to the desktop and rename it Internet Explorer.

I feel like your best option now is to perform a fresh install and 100% wipe out the laptop. That will get us back to a point where we know exactly what is being put onto it.

You can use the 'Reset This PC' function in Windows 10, or you can visit Microsoft site, download the Windows 10 .ISO onto a flash drive and format your laptop that way.

If this is something you've never done, we can walk you through either of these processes. This would be my suggestion to do, before you attempt to RMA the laptop which is a process that can be both smooth or rage inducing.

The good news, is that I've been through MSI RMA process twice, and both were very excellent experiences - I'd highly recommend we try the above ideas first and proceed from there.!

yeah but much easier to put Internet Explorer into the search box and then right click to add the icon to your task bar. Well I think so anyway.
 
I'm going to reset it later but another detail I noticed is that individual simple tasks, in this case league of legends LOBBY client takes up to 46% of my CPU. I don't know much but to me this tells me that it maybe be just a bad CPU and not problems with too many background problems or bloatware. Will still reset to make sure.
 
I'm assuming you have either the 6700HQ or the 6820HK for your CPU ??

What is the exact model # for your MSI, as well?
 
i7 6700HQ (2.60 GHz), yep. GS63VR Stealth pro 4k. I reset my computer and still experiencing extreme delays when doing normal tasks. I ran some benchmarks, once I changed my default GPU to the dedicated GPU all the benchmarks scored very high except for my CPU which scored low as follows

Overall:
Overall this PC is performing below expectations (37th percentile). This means that out of 100 PCs with exactly the same components, 64 performed better.
GPU specific:
Performing above expectations (79th percentile)
CPU specific:
Performing way below expectations (8th percentile)

Is it time to RMA?

Um six left clicks and a right click and then another left click to send it to the desktop. That's assuming that you can follow a tree direction. Not everyone can. Anyway I am not going to get into a points scoring discussion with you.

Yeah, I don't care about what others say, all that percentile shit is useless, what I care about is how my laptop performs for me and am I getting value for my money.

It's clear that you've done your due diligence and are still not getting the performance and power you expected. at this point, yeah, I'd be filling out a ticket and see what the RMA process can do for you.

If you can even still return the machine to point of purchase for exchange, that'll be quicker -
