problems with... i have no idea

ive never been in a forum before

OK here's the deal, i got windows 98 and im pretty sure i have a virus or something but a few nights ago i discovered "sidefind" on my computer, and when i uninstalled it, my computer lashed out at me, punch me in the face, gave me a bloody nose, and put me into shock. Well, actually it just froze. when i restarted it, windows setup opened up telling me to install windows 98. so i did and now its back up but some of my programs don't work and i have something called accstat that i know is a worm or something but it wont go away.

Can somebody please put their 2 cents in.
 
Well you can try this site http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm its a free and up to date online virus scanner that will even eliminate the virus. If you dont have a virus it could be spyware. This program spybotsearch& destroy is free. I consider it the best http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html With win 98 you may want to make sure you dont have any open ports allowing virii, spyware or sombody in http://www.dslreports.com/scan

Sometimes spyware comes as a critical component of applications and the app will fail if you remove the spyware. Just a thought
