Problems with XP and Vista workgroup

All,

I have recently created a workgroup for two of my machines

1: Desktop – XP
2: Laptop – Vista

I have made sure that both machines have the same workgroup name and both machines have an identical user account (in name and password).

From the XP desktop I can see the Vista machine and access the docs etc, what I want  however, on the Visa machine I can see the XP docs etc but I can’t connect to them.

When I try to connect from Vista to XP I get prompted with a login message. I try to log on using the identical account name and password I talked about previously. However I can’t log on no matter how many tiems I try.

Have I missed anything out? Are there any settings I need to modify?

hi friend try turning on both machines guest account if that doesnt work try this.

Go start > run > and type secpol.msc.

a screen will pop up click on local policies
and a drop down list will apear.

Now select security options.

To your right you will see a window with a long list of policies
look for network securities:LAN manager authentication level
and double click it.

in the drop donw box choose: Send LM & NTLM responses

click ok and restart do this on both machine then try

let me know the outcome? Oh this here loosens security options making them more friendly
