I recieved a questionable email the other day. it did nt look bad, so i clicked on it. It opend a website with a V. Day card, then installed some java stuff. Anyhow nothin worked after tht. I couldnt get the task manager up, services.msc and msconfig either. Ewido would not open, MS anti spyware would not open en AVG jus died. I restarted into safe mode where each of the programes cept AVG (illegal operation) worked. Ewido found 250 odd en cleaned them all, MS came up with nothing. I restarted and then most programes worked with the exception of AVG (illegal error again)

Now i am having problems downloading certain thigns, they download then has an unexpected error when trying to save. I cn't uninstall programes either.

I cnt attach my hijack this log because it is an invalid file(!)

Run Hijackthis and select "Do a system scan only", place a check by the following entries.

O20 - Winlogon Notify: mmx432 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mmx432.dll

Close all open windows and browsers, and hit "Fix Checked".

Delete this file.

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mmx432.dll

Run this online scan (you'll need to use IE).

ok i ran, hi jack this and deleted the entry. Although i ran it again and the same entry appeared, i deleted again and re-run test, it appeared again and so forth, so tht still shows up

The file i could not find.

I ran the online scan and log is attached.

Download the trial version of Spy Sweeper from Here

Install it using the Standard Install option. (You will be asked for your e-mail address, it is safe to give it. If you receive alerts from your firewall, allow all activities for Spy Sweeper)

You will be prompted to check for updated definitions, please do so.
(This may take several minutes)


[*]Download the Killbox.

[*]Unzip it to the desktop but do NOT run it yet.

[*]Then reboot into Safe Mode by restarting your computer and pressing F8 as your computer is booting up. Then select the Safe Mode option.

[*]Once in Safe Mode, run Killbox.

[*]Click "Delete on Reboot".

[*]Paste the following into the top "Full Path of File to Delete" box.

  • C:\WINDOWS\System32\mmx432.dll

[*]Click the red-and-white "Delete File".

[*]Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt.

[*]Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Then run Spysweeper.

Click on Options > Sweep Options and check Sweep all Folders on Selected drives. Check Local Disc C. Under What to Sweep, check every box.

Click on Sweep and allow it to fully scan your system.

When the sweep has finished, click Remove. Click Select All and then Next.

Then restart the computer in normal mode and post a new Hijackthis log.
