I am currently looking to purchase a new laptop, i wanted to stick with windows 7 since i heard bad things about windows 8. Looking at laptops i notice most now come with Windows 8 very few have windows 7.
So if i end up getting a laptop with windows 8 and decide i want windows 7 what is the best way to make the switch? What is the cost and will i be sacrificing anything making the switch.

Thanks

Windows 7 costs roughly $100. Really won't sacrifice much if anything. Some say 8 boots up quicker. Do you have an extra hard drive that you can do a test install on? You'll have to install 7 and then hopefully find all the necessary drivers needed.

Just stick with Windows 8 and install ClassicShell to save you a headache installing Win 7.

I think Voyager has the right idea..

My laptop came with Win7.
- Upgraded to Win8 Pro and had problems
- Upgraded to Win8.1 and still had problems
And instead of bothering with windows support, I loaded Linux.

OVERALL: It isn't worth it to go backwards in time and spend extra cash if the computer came with Win8.

no mate do it yourself.it took me a few hours but a member on here was A1 in getting the right drivers. currys wanted £75 to change my dads to win 7
result=windows 8 is pish,even with classic shell
