processes in XP

It should be working by default

So, you pressed "Print Screen", then pasted it into Paint or Word and nothing appeared

no nothing at all happens when i press it, on the very same keyboard that i am typing now, i have recently installed XP, and many things that should happen by default do not seem to be happening?

the reason i need to use it, is actually to show an image of my task manager processes, because i need help concerning that, and i cant copy and paste out of task manager.

Start > Run > type CLIPBRD. This will launch the Clipboard Viewer.
Just to check if anything is in there after prtscn...
In the meantime you might want to use something like screenprint32 or IrfanView.

this is just a guess but
it might be your keyboard
my keyboard has an F Lock button that enables the F keys.
In order for me to use the PrtScn button i have to turn the F Lock off then press PrtScn

thanks subtle for the help, the clpbrd worked and the image was in there, it would be nice to know why it isnt set to run automatically though:confused:
i dont think it could be that 'f-lock' you metioned takkun, as i now know tthat the prtscn button is responding, it just doesnt seem to launch the clipboard automatically when i press it.

i will post my concerns about the task manager processes in a different thread, now i able to post the processes list from it.

thanks all for comments

When you pressing PrtScn the clipboard shouldn't open.
I gave you that command just to check if the button is working (and the picture is in there).
And it is.
Are you sure you are doing everything as you should with pasting?
Maybe give it a try with clipboard window open...

yes it is working fine, i think its just because ive never really used the prtscn before, and for some reason i thought that it comes up automatically??
maybe i saw it in a dream?

i can save the image, zip it and post it, so i will post my other topic when i get home tonite, this is on the college computer

anyway, thanks

ok, i have saved, and zipped the image, but now i try and upload the zip, and it is 1.2MB, and too big to upload. lol one problem leads to another, leads to another.

any ideas what to do?

The idea after print screen is to open "PAINT" and paste the image in. Then save it as a JPEG picture.

Open a free account with something like "IMAGESHACK" and upload the image you saved.

Copy the link on the picture hosting site and paste that link into "COMPUTERFORUM" thread.

it wont let me copy or cut the image out of there, i can save it but only as a .clp file, i was trying to upload it by adding an attachment to my post in this forum.

Can you paste it in to the Word?
(You can see Words clipboard when you hold Ctrl and tap "C" twice).

EDIT:
You can also try this:

type in Start > Run:
REGSVR32 /u shell32.dll
then
REGSVR32 shell32.dll

It probably won't help, but you can always give it a try...

Monoman, read my lips.

You don't have to copy or cut out of the clipboard. The clipboard is holding the image for you to do whatever you like with it.

It means the image is available to you whenever you open PAINT, WORD, NOTEPAD, any IMAGING program. I could go on. Just say you ran WORD, now on a blank document, right click and PASTE. Your Print Screen image that is being held on the Clipboard will be pasted.:D

ok 'TFT' i got the image into word and saved it, still to big to post here, so i signed up at image shack, and its annoying, they dont send me the registration email, to log in and upload the image...

so i can use the prtscn now but having trouble to upload it.

(p.s. your from yorkshire, anywhere near to featherstone?:) )

You don't need to log in to upload the image.
Just browse to the picture on your computer and hit "host it!"
then wait few moments for the links to show up on your screen.
Next copy the link to the link window on the forum (after pressing "Insert Image").
You don't need to type your e-mail address at all.

Hi Monoman

Just as Subtle says, no need to register just click on "Host it", highlight the link for websites, right click to copy (this link will then be on your clipboard automatically), come out of Imageshack, in the forum reply box copy the link. When you preview your post it should show the picture :)

No, east yorkshire near the coast:D

EDIT Instead of word, paste the image into the Paint program and save it as a JPEG
