Hey,

Yesterday while I was on internet my computer reached 89°C without my knowledgement. The problem was that the fan stopped working!! and I could not hear it because of the music I was listening to.

My pc did not crash as I turned it off immediately as soon as I saw on "hardware sensors monitor" that it had reached such a high temperature. The icon was "red" and normally it should be "green" so that is why it seemed odd to me and then... I turned it off right away.

It seems that the processor works exactly the same as before but I am not sure if this is going to bring any consequences afterwards or maybe I haven't even noticed it and I already got some problems.

This is the first time my pc reaches such a high temperature and that is due to the stupid fan which stopped working!!

My pc's specs are:

Manufactured by Acer;
Amd 64 (socket 754) 3000+
512 Ram
160GB HD
5700 Gforce, 128ram (Gainward)

Now that the stupid fan doesn't work properly, can I only buy a fan?

You may have not damaged you cpu and yes youcan buy replacement fans, many to choose from. I would just try to get one comperable to the one you had.

try opening up your case and when your pc's on, spinning the fan.

The fisrt week i built mine, i had to do that every so often

now everything works a -ok

It shouldnt have caused damage because your PC shut itself down, but I would definetly buy a new fan.

Yeah, when compnents get past their "threshold" It will automatically start beeping really load shut down. So obviously it didnt get high enough to do any damage. You'll have to get a new fan for it. Go to newegg.com and search for cpu fans for skt 754. They are pritty cheap.
