Processor change?

I have an old dell dimension 2400 which my little brother uses and at the moment it is a bit slow and I was wondering if it would make much difference if I changed the current processor an Intel celeron 2.6GHz to a Pentium 4 3.06GHz?

Thanks

I think it's possible you might see a difference, as the older Celerons were very slow. No guarantees though.

Just be sure to get a P4 that is the right socket.

well you need to know what cpu's the mobo will accept, even if it's the right socket they sometimes don't support the cpu

you will see a small kick in the pants, but i think you are limited to a 533 FSB on the cpu, so 800fsb cpus cant be used. i added a 2.6ghz pen4 to my dell dimension 2400, it got a slight boost in performance but wasnt anything to write home about, your better off just starting from scratch.
