talked to a guy at micro center and he told that i can upgrade the processor in my laptop. is this true? is there anyway to find out? i hve a compaq evo n610c 1.8ghz p4 mobile, thats all i know about the processor, i have no idea about the motherboard.
i want to upgrade as far as it it can go because i will not be buying a new computer soon as in couple of years.

yes, you can upgrade i, but why? it's 1.8GHZ now. you have 2 find out how much the mobo will support (GHZ), then you'd have 2 get a CPU with the right FSB (Front Side Bus.)

how can i find out that information? is there something i can download that would tell me?

Try CPU-Z.

If he said you can upgrade it then it's most likely true  , just give them your laptop if you can and say to them to upgrade your CPU as far as it can go, or just ask them whats the best CPU for your laptop and upgrade it yourself.
