Program to rip DVDs and Blurays

I'm planning on setting up a media server for my home network. What's the best program to add all the movies that I have? I don't mind paying for it.

Media ripping is a slightly sketchy area on this forum, but here goes:

Google 'best free blu-ray ripper', third result from the top, first program in their article. That one works nicely. Does DVDs too. ;)

That's about all I can say. Not even sure if I can give the name of the program here.

Yeah DVD Decrypter works OK for DVDs still, but actually the one I like now is MakeMKV which is free and does Blu-rays too. It works well for me. You can use Handbrake to encode the MKV file into MP4 to reduce the size. :)

Both are free.

You will find out that DVD Decrypter won't work for most newer movies, its been that way for years already. Was a good program before they changed the encryption.

Hmm, well I've been using MakeMKV to rip new(er) Blu-rays and that's worked great so that's my recommendation. :)

I haven't tried it with DVDs but it looks like it can rip DVDs too.

If you like the user interface of DVD Decrypter then you'll like MakeMKV too.
