Someone told me that she was using a computer at a lab(connected to the internet, and a certain person she knows came into the lab and started using another computer there, and she thinks that that other person was using some computer software (temporarily) in order to spy on what she was looking up. When the computer was restarted, it acted unusually in that only a blank screen appeared for a *long time* instead of the deskop icons.I think it is plausible if 2 computers are on the same local area network. Perhaps it is something that is downloadable from the internet? If, for instance, I have 2 computers at home, both using the same internet connection(cable), and if one is connected wirelessly and not necessarily used in the same room, how would I be able to see what was going on in one of them if some one was using it and if I was sitting at the other one, and both were connected to the internet at the same time. Could anyone help me answer this question, or suggest where I could find the answer? I would really appreciate it.

At first glance (or first thought) is that its been infected. If they installed software onto the computer and the files where infected with something e.g. a virus then that could be effecting the computer. If the computer is a part of a network then it should be isolated until it has been checked/ scanned.
This person seems really random - how could they get into the lab without authorisation.

There are many legit programs out there there let you do it, like Windows Remote Desktop, LogMeIn, AccessRemotePC, GoToMyPC, and many more.

Thanks for the replies. I was also interested in this for another reason-some guy was using my internet connection from a different computer, and he told someone he could see what I was buying on the internet and what video I was watching.(He was watching it along with me). My computer is a Mac, and I did not have remote desktop enabled, so I was trying to figure out
how he was doing it. I could not see any strange programs in the Activity Monitor. But the details he mentioned leave me no doubt that he was actually seeing what I was looking up on the internet.
