Programs no longer working after virus

Hey everyone,

I had a virus just before which I happened to get rid of.
However at the moment I have issues using certain software, like Internet Explorer, Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger.

I keep getting messages that my connections are not right, which isn't correct as I am using the computer now (with FireFox).

I had to delete certain folders to get rid of the virus, and I am afraid some files of IE may have been deleted also if that is even possible.

In IE, if I go to Extra > Tool Menu/Options > Connections. Absolutely nothing is listed there to connect too, which apparently is the issue according to a pop up I had. Nothing that I did worked to fix it.

Hopefully someone can help me out on this one, as it's been a real pain to me so far.

If you have cable or DSL you will have nothing listed under connections. That is strictly for dial up intenet.

Open internet explorer. click on tools, click on internet options. click on the connections tab, click on the lan settings button, uncheck any boxes under the proxy server and click ok and this will restore your internet. Most likely you are still infected so please do the following.

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log
