I was wondering if any of you all knew of any good programs to shut down any useless system processes that are running in the background.

Also, I was wondering if any of you all know of any good re-mixed drivers for the nvidia gfx card and the nvidia 4 chipset.

thanks

One quick way to prevent unnecessary processes from even starting When Windows loads is the msconfig utility already included in Windows. There you can easily choose the "selective startup" to minimize the items that autoload. You don't need anything for that. One freeware that came out some time back will overide anything running by ending on the spot. That one was called "Wizmo". http://www.grc.com/wizmo/wizmo.htm

Remixed drivers? I'm quite familiar with "generic" drivers like those written for Linux when none are available for older hardwares like video and sound cards. In fact a good search will turn up sites like omegadrivers seen at http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win2k_xp.php

I've tried the msconfig way of ending processes but for some reason I always end up getting the same amount of processes back. I used a program called gamexp but it didnt seem to help much, or at least not as much as it use to. I looked on 3dgeeks.com but didnt find any that were convincing.

The site you posted for the re-mixed drivers are for ati cards. I need something specifically for nvidia, I remember of one particular website that had a community that did remixing but I cant seem to remember the url.

All you have to do there is click on the NVidia item on the menu bar to end up at http://www.omegadrivers.net/nvidia.php The link posted before was a reference without having relocated the home page right away. A quick search found that page right off however. As far as remixing are you talking about taking some drivers from one set to mix with another?
