Propper cooling

System specs are below, it's an AMD 3400+ and I get temp readings of about 43c idle, around 48-51 on a small load (playing music and such), and 55-60 something on heavier loads, games and such.

These temps are a bit warm as Ive seen people say, and i would like to bring them down without investing a lot money in more equipment.

Im using 1 80mm fan on the side panel for exhaust, and two 80mm fans at the back of the cpu (under the psu) for intake. The psu also has a fan, but I thinks its specificly for that, and blows into the case. If you think this setup should could be changed around at all to make a difference, please let me know.

Hey

There are some things I would worry about:

1. Temperature of the CPU (Too high for an Athlon 64).
2. Maybe a badly applied HSF?
3. Direction of the airflow within the case. I woud have it like this:
4. I am worried abot the direction the PSU is blowing. It should really be taking air out of the case and not blow it in.

Im not positive about the psu fan blowing outwards, but it is this one, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817189003
and the fan is on the bottom.

I think I will change the two fans on the back of the case to exhaust like jancz recommended (i can't fit a 180mm fan), and the middle, side fan for intake, and buy another for intake on the front, do you guys reccomend any fans to fit on front in the case in the 5 1/2 in. or 3 1/2 in. drive bays?

I could try a new heatsink if you reccomend on, Im just using the stock one, socket 939.

Edit: Its the middle of summer in DC, so it gets pretty hot, im sure that doesnt help, but the AC is usauly on, and my room is probably around 75 -85 F most of the time.

Well, i would, but dont know anything about liquid cooling, and like i mentioned, id like to keep my budget low.
 
good cooling at a respectable price eh??? sounds like a job for copper heat pipe to me, do some research on it and post back
 
I checked out what you mentioned dragon, and that looks kind of interesting, but bulky, and would be about $50, dont know if it would fit in my case. Otherwise, I found this link, with a bunch of spu cooler for socket 939, but not having any expertise on the stuff, or even knowledge that these would be any better than the stock cooler I have now, I thought maybe I could get some recomendations on what people think.

Those two companies seem to have good stuff. I'm thinking now of mainly getting a better heat sink (other suggestions welcome), hopefully one guranteed to bring my cpu temp down at least 10c, if not more.

If anyone has experience with these copper heat sinks, and that they really help, or could reccomend a specific one, I would greatly appreciate it. My price range is about 30 - 50$ USD.

Most cases dont support that :) (i assume thats a typo for 120 rather than 1x80)

In a case where "any cooling is better than no cooling" but they shouldnt be a priority

Ok so we use a heatpipe to move the heat from here to there ... now how to cool it? ;)
