Proprietary RAM

Hi,

I recently built a new computer using some old components from an HP pavilion. I found that the ram from my old pavilion would not work with my new Asus motherboard. Is that because it is proprietary or is there another reason?

I would like to get some money for this RAM but need to know for sure if it will work in other HP Pavilions.

This is what is on the label of the RAM

That may be a quirk in the Athlon 64 memory controller then. There isn't anything non-standard about that RAM

I'm not sure then, the Infineon RAM you have was tested and validated by AMD. Is the RAM actually working?

actually, the reason for re-building was because motherboard and processor got fried... never thought the ram would die in the process...

I will test it on a friend's comp. Thanks for the help!

I would say the RAM is dead, especially as the mobo and CPU died, usually if more than one compnonent goes lots more follow.
