So, how do you think this is going to impact the PS3? i mean even with the hack, and most likely homebrew firmware, how is piracy gona grow? PS3 games are stored on bluray which are huge, and you'll need a bluray burner and not to mention the not-so-cheap blank bluray discs. Your thoughts?

I read about this on bbc news what, a day or two ago, and I think it will probably hit sales, but not massively. The majority of games, much like on the Xbox even though that can use pirated games, will still be bought legitimately.

Those that do get pirated games, they will eiethr do it themselves, because after the blu ray drive is bought and a pack of discs, it is maybe 3 or 4 games before it pays for itself, or they will get it off a "friend", and then it will still pay for itself after maybe 5 or 6 games

But on xbox you could add hard drives to the system and save all the games to the hdds. If as much as that becomes possible then it'll hit sony hard. Otherwise I agree, it wont hurt sony too much. By the time a bluray drive is more standard and disks cheaper, a new system will be out.

It wont increase or decrease sale with me! I will buy the PS3 when its $50 and I can get the games for $1-$10 :P

Though with this I bet PS3 PC emulation will jump...not to 100% playable but get them closer to it. Which I myself LOVE as I hate consoles anymore....I only buy them so I can use them on my PC legally (aka buy the games as well)
