ps3 hdmi cable audio problem

Hi I would please like to have some advice with a hdmi/ps3 sound problem. About a month or 2 ago, I started noticing that the sound on the ps3 would disappear for no reason. Then I would have to restart the ps3 and the sound would work fine. I don't know what happened, just today I turned on the ps3 and the video was ok but no sound. I tried bringing my hdmi cable to my friend's house and it worked fine so I'm guessing it's a problem with either my tv or ps3 but I don't know why this would happen out of the blue because my ps3 has been working pretty good for a year aside from the small audio problems I described earlier. Now ALL AUDIO is gone. I tried resetting the settings on my ps3 and my tv but to no avail. Can somebody please help me??

HDMI can be a bit picky on my DVD player. Might there be some setting somewhere where it's trying to use another output? And you mentioned the problem may be with your TV... Have you tested another HDMI device on your TV yet to confirm it's working/all it's settings are correct?

Go into audio settings and make sure that hdmi is selected for the output. I had a similar problem when I hooked my ps3 up through hdmi and the settings were all that were wrong.
