i got a PS3 (FINALLY! :D) and i have it hooked up to my 19" LCD monitor (for clearer picture compared to my tube tv). so i have 2 questions.

first and foremost...the important one: how do i go about getting sound out of my 5.1 PC speaker system? there's no optic cable on my speakers anywhere. on the card itself there's a port that looks ALMOST like a USB...but thicker. dno what it's called lol. i took the A/V audio cable and ran it to the RCA in the back of the subwoofer/receiver...but that's just running one output to another output. where/what should i run to get me some sound? any ideas?

secondly...to get the picture on my PC monitor...i gotta turn it off or unplug the analog plug. there no other way to do this? change monitor settings or somethin? if not that's fine i'll deal with it...i just want sound dammit! :)

Try going from your Red white RCA in to a 3.5mm jack and then into your line in on your computer and then go out from your computer on the 5.1 surround system. Try that and let use know.

What does imputs does your screen have???

inputs? as in...HDMI and DVI-D? and i'll try that with the 3.5mm jack tomorrow. gotta go after work to get the part tho. but i'll let you know if it works cuz i'll probably be back here asking more questions :D

that is my monitor. and i have an audigy 5.1 sound card.

i have the HDMI from the PS3 to the DVI-D on the monitor. VGA from PC to monitor. and i was going to try to use the red and white A/V cords from the PS3 to my speakers...but i dno where to put them. cant put them to the subwoofer/receiver cuz it's just one output going to another output. i see where it says digital out...but i see a lil picture under it...guessing that'd be the line in?
