PS3/Wireless connection problem

Hi.

I'm using Virgin internet for the last year and my internet connection used to drop out from time to time. Until i connected my PS3 to wireless network and now im loosing connection every 10-15 minutes

I caled technical support this morning who advised me to change the password on my wireless router which made no difference. No they are 'investigating it further'...

Also i haven't change any settings on my PS3 it still connects to internet and exactly 10 minutes later the internet is gone - red signal shows it on my router.

What can cause such issue? I was thinking that i need to reconnect my PS3. At one point it is asking for WPA key which i assume is my new password (am i right) but when i enter it t desn't log in. Also it does log in using old saved settings

I'm confused, any advises?

Thanks in advance

First see if there is a firmware update for the modem/router. If the update doesn't fix the issue, then I would look into getting a new unit.

The password you changed was probably the login password to your router not the security password.

re:

From my experiences, wireless routers don't tend to last very long. Most of them are poorly designed and cook.

A few repairs I've done in the past which have corrected the problem is by providing the units more air flow by implementing a 5V fan on which ever side the vents are. This has surprisingly solved a lot of the I-Net disconnection issues which is quiet common along a lot wireless routers.

Another alternative to your issue would be to do a factory reset of the unit, that sometimes sorts out I-Net connectivity issues. Firmware upgrades can help as mentioned above, but read the text file for what the firmware update does for your particular router. If it mentions anything reference power management or performance enhancements then definately give that a shot.

If you can also post the particular brand and manufacturer of the wireless AP I'll look into common faults with that particular brand. There may be an even easier fix.
