My PSU has a on/off switch on the back. When i turn the computer off for the night, do i need to turn that switch on the PSU off? or can i leave it in the on position? Thanks

Thanks.what is that switch for? i know it turns the power supply completely off but why does it need to be there?

You know, honestly I'm not sure why the switch is there. Perhaps a failsafe way of killing the power. Or an easy way to be sure the mobo's completely dead (as it still gets a little power regardless if the machine's on or not...) Not every PSU has the switch. I'm thinking my previous desktop didn't have one...

It's so you can completely shut off the power, because when the computer is shutdown using the power switch on the case or from within Windows, there is still power going to the motherboard. So if you needed to do some work on the motherboard or reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS jumper/battery, you would need to switch it off from the back.
