PSU causing no image on monitor?

Hi
I'm running a 400w PSU with a 20 pin connector and an additional 4 pin connector (these are seperate) into a mobo with a 24 pin connector and an additional 4 pin connector.

So I've got a 20 pin connection filling a 24 pin and a 4 pin filling a 4 pin.

A couple days ago I took out the PSU from one of my computers and put it in another to test the mobo was still working. When I installed the PSU back into the computer it originally came from I could not get any image on the screen. There are no molex connections to my graphics card either so it's not as if there isn't power going to it.

I have tried two different graphics cards (and cleaned the contacts as well) and two different monitors (both via analogue and dvi) and that didn't work. Have also tried two different vga cables and that didn't work. The monitor did however work when hooked up to another computer. By process of a elimination, this means my monitors are in a working condition and my graphics cards are too. This leads me to beleive the PSU is the culprit.

I am receiving enough power to run the cpu fan and the heatsink fan on the graphics card.

I have read alot of information about 20-24 pin adapters and people advising not to plug 20 pin into 24 pin mobos, but before I took the PSU out to test in the other computer it was working no worries.

Does anybody have any ideas?

The card that was always in there is an Xpert Vision 7600GT PCI-E w/ DVI & analogue.

The second card I tested was an Xpert Vision 8600GT PCI-E w/ 2*DVI
