PSU help!

Hi, say i bought an Antec Earthwatt 500w PSU. These at 12v rails have 17.00 amperage. I read some reviews that these are great, but if i was to buy a 9600gt which minimum power is 400w but amperage, not sure off the top of my head needs to be 22-26 amps. Do i really need to spend the extra money and buy better or more watts and better amps. I mean 500w is enough to power say an ASUS P5 series board,the 9600gt etc the mid range build. Any answers will be great. :)

usually single cards with 1 6 pin should be fine but if your talking about like a 4870 with 2 6pin molex, that could be a problem. i don't see why the 9600gt wouldn't work in your case
