PSU Makes Sounds Until I tap the Computer

My PSU makes a really loud grinding-ish sound every now and again... but when I hit the front of the computer, it stops for a while, but then comes back (and I can stop it by hitting it again, etc)

Im not sure if this is because its just simply not clean or broken...

help please :)

thanks

p.s. im sure its the PSU, i opened it up and put my ear next to everything

It almost sounds like the fan is broken. Try stopping the PSU fan for a second and see if it sounds any different.

edit: ok my font just mysteriously changed...

Put your finger on it.

:D that was funny, I thought I was alone doing that sort of thing.

I recently suffered from the same thing. When I started my PC up it sounded like a tank , after a couple of times poking my finger in the fan it would stop.

I ended up replacing it, as it was cheap and nasty. 18 amps in total across the 12v.

you sure its the psu fan? I know I have had cables leaning against the case fans before and it sounds well basically like touching a spinning fan and after about 30 seconds it seems like the temperature changes moves the cable away from the fan and it stops.

thanks guys.

it was the fan, it seems loose I think

ill get another one i spose

thanks again

is it dangerous to keep the fan in there? cus i dont know when i'll get one
