PSU Overload!! Classic symptoms of computer death?

Hey everyone! Just to forewarn: I did search for this already, but didn't quite find what I was looking for.

I have a stock 330W PSU (Gateway), but have added and changed a lot of hardware.

It came with:
250GB HDD
2.8GHz Pentium D 820
BTX Motherboard
1GB (512x2) RAM
DVD Burner

Changes: (+ = Added; S = Switched)
+ 1GB (1x1) RAM (cheap 5300)
+ DVD Drive (Total of two)
+ 7800GT OC
+ Floppy Drive (to reinstall XP)
+ 250GB HDD
S MSI P6N SLI
S Apevia X-Cruiser Case

I KNOW for a fact that the PSU is overloaded -- that is not the reason for this thread. My problem is that it sounds like the PSU pauses almost immediately after I hit the on button. The fans whir up and then the noise of everything pauses (completely stops) for about half a second, then it continues the boot processes with no problems.

There are no other visible indicators that the PSU is about to go. The only other two factors are the amount of stress it is under and the fact that it is ~2 years old.

Money has been pretty tight, and I want to get one of the top notch PSU's. Lemme know what ya think!

The pause could be the video card initializing.
It may not entirely go away, even with a new PSU, but it will take less time.
