PSU problems

Hi,
I built a new system about 6 months ago. Until last week, it had been running fine. Now, whenever (or at least the majority of the time) I try to restart, it shuts off. It makes it as far as windows shutting down, but as it begins to start back up, everything shuts off just before it can post. It is now having problems even starting up after being shut down. I'll press the power button, hear the hdd spin, and then everything goes black. This is now happening with increasing frequency. My set-up is AMD athlon 6000+, Asus M2N-Sli Deluxe, 4 gb G.skill Pc6400 Ram, XFX 8800gts XXX edition, 320gb Seagate hdd, logisys 575w psu. I realize that my PSU is absolute crap and i think it might be the problem. I also "upgraded" to vista x64 from xp a month ago. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated. Sorry about the long post.:o

remove the 8800 and borrow a PSU from a buddy or another computer. Without the 8800 you dont need to worry about the power rating (about 350w would do). If it works, try with the graphics card, if it breaks then, well, its the card. But likely a bad PSU. Check out the guides at the top of the forum for a good PSU within budget.

I removed the video card and the problem persisted. The pc turned on, hard disk spun and then everything shut off. I put the card back in and tried to turn it on at least 20 times, none of which were successful. I am fairly certain that the motherboard isn't shorting. Can I now safely assume that it is the psu?
