Under my plug for the power supply, there is a switch. You can flip it so it says 115 or 230. What should it be on if I have a graphics card in there and it runs hot? And what does it mean?

That setting is for different voltage inputs, leave it at 115vac for US power sources. Most units these days have active PFC, and only the cheaper units have a manual power selector anymore, depending on the model of the unit, it may be a bad idea to run a dedicated graphics card.

Why is that a bad idea?

Yeah theres one on mine pretty sure all PSUs have one so they can be used in any country , don't change it without knowing what voltage to set it on it could damage the pc :)
