hey, last night my PSU fan just crapped out on me so now im in need of a new one. i want at least 500 watts, but i dont want to spend much more than around $70.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817181106

thats the one that im looking at getting right now. my only worrie was that the only fan on it would be shooting down into the case instead of out of the case. does this matter much?? i am running a p4 prescott 3.0ghz which does run very hot! (50-65 c) YA...

but anyway let me know what you think, and if you have more suggestions on one that might work better let me know!!!

thanks!

john

Just so you know you want to look at the amps of the rails on the PSU and not just the watts, Watts arae important too, but dont forget to look at ampage, read PSU 101.

question, what exactly do i look for where?

i dont know much about psu's so help would be great =]

on the sticker on the psu in the picture it says +12 = 25A +5=55A +3.3= 28A -5=0.5A -12=0.8A and +5/*b=2.0A

i honestly have no idea if that is the right stuff but oh well

let me know! =]

ok i understand that better now, but i still have a question that youv probly hear a million times and are getting sick of but how do i know if a psu is compatable with my case, because judging by the pictures online the psu looks like it is a lot longer than mine (extedngin into the case towards front)

the dimensions are- 8.5 centimeters tall, 14cm wide (from back of case to front) and 15cm deep (from side to side of case)

can you help??

thanks!

You might try one of these as well ATX 500w If the PSU says ATX then it is compatible with ATX style cases. Alsmost all cases are in ATX format. You may want to check to make sure though.
