Psu?

Last week my roomate turned on my computer thats hooked up to the TV in out livingroom and it turned on for about 5-10 seconds and immediately shut down (I wasn't present when this happened the 1st time). I tried it and it did the same thing. I also noticed that just brushing the power button would turn it on, but again for about 10 seconds. The computer is only about 2 months old so I wouldn't think that the PSU would go so quickly even if it is a crappy one. My other guess is that maybe the power button signal is somehow "jammed" so that it turns on and then shuts it down right away. I'm going to have some time this weekend to work on it, changing out parts, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

Specs:
Soyo Dragon 2 Plus V1
Celeron D 2.4 GHz
Kingwin Mutant X Case w/ included 420W PSU
.....

Dont use the case powerbutton to turn it on to remove that possibility
How exactly can you turn it on without using the case power button? Some other external switch?

A screwdriver ... paperclip .. knife (or if you have a Fatal1ty mobo, the buttons on the mobo)

Alright, I completely disconnected the power and reset buttons from the motherboard but when I switch the PSU on it still turns on for a few seconds and immediately shuts down. I'm guessing this is bad. Could it be a motherboard problem? I still haven't swapped out the PSU... I would have to take it from this computer and I would be able to be writing this :(

What kind of PSU is it? can you tell? some are dead out of the box, other take a few months to die if they are defective.

If it just up and wouldn't turn on one day i'd say it's the PSU, usually mobo/CPU don't just "poof" and die liek a PSU overnight. (at least never happened to me like that.)

Its just the Kingwin PSU that came w/ the case. I was just wondering why the computer would turn on with all the power button disconnected from the motherboard, or how the PSU would do that?

Alright, I think my problem is the motherboard. I've tried a different PSU and the same thing happens - it turns on for a couple seconds and shuts off. I disconnected everything one at a time to rule out any bad cards/drives though I doubt they could cause this problem anyway. The thing that really gets me is that all of the power/reset/LED connections are disconnected yet the computer turns on when I turn the power supply on. Any other suggestions before I return the mobo?

Yeah, I used the PSU from my good computer (pain in the ass taking it out :() and it did the exact same thing. Also removed all nonessential components - no luck
