Put keys back on the keyboard

HELLO computers out there, how is people?
have a bit of problem here.

how do you put keys back on a keyboard? hp compaq 6530b.
NOTE:
it is not an "external" accessory, but built into the laptop itself.
it is the keyboard.

plastic square pieces, specifically the letters, "P" and "L".
P & L as in can you PL Z help?

thanks,
sincerely, having a really hard time typing.

On some laptop keyboards, you simply just can't put them back on because they have broke off. Providing they are oriented correctly when trying to push them back on doesn't work, then the key is simply just broke. In that case, you need to replace the whole keyboard.

Laptop keyboard keys are normally held on by tiny clips. Oftentimes they break, so you're better off spending $20 on a new keyboard from eBay.

is it very difficult to replace the keyboard (lots and lots of steps?

hello there johnb35!

dang -- i really had high hopes for fixing this:(, as i just got it -- it was brand new (to me. used), which i got for my birthday:mad:, and i've only had it for several months, so i'm sad:rolleyes:
dumb cats, always breaking stuff -- they are literally a HAZARD to electronic equipment. my cat soared 4 feet through the air, and with perfect acrobatic percision, landed percisely on my laptop keyboard, even though i was right next to it, clearing my shoulder and completely leaping over me. so far those cats have destroyed a keyboard, 1 plasma tv, and a glass lamp that got shattered into thousands of sharp pieces.
now we're stuck using a big giant cave man television set that feels like it weighs about a ton.

voyagerfan99,
great to see you!

didn't know that new keyboards for the laptop were that reasonable. i forgot that you can replace the keyboard. however, its a MAJOR pain to open up the entire laptop and replace the keyboard. i have only opened up a laptop in full one time, and it was just out of curiousity as a discovery experiment. i did not fix anything. i remember that i studied this subject on how to take apart the laptop, but its been a while. is it very difficult (lots and lots of steps and surgery on the computer) to replace the keyboard?

Being relatively new there may be a tutorial on it.. Typically you don't have to remove too much, but it'll take time, patience, and no cats around :)

Normally to replace a keyboard all you need to do is pull up a bezel and remove a screw or two. You don't need to take the whole thing apart.

What model is it?

thanks bro

i'll make sure to chain up the wild animals first, though its kind of hard to not notice them, what with the roaring and the cage rattling back and forth, sliding across the floor:P

time and patience, that's not a problem: the hard part is understanding how to do it, and hoping not to ruin anything.

thanks for talking to me

i heard some laptops are easier than others, such as the keyboard sliding directly out. however, i noticed that other laptops can ONLY be taken out by first taking off the entire bottom plate, detaching every screw and cord/cable before you can even get to the keyboard.

i'm always kind of worried (about it being damaged and causing it to not run anymore) when i open a working laptop up.

tremmor,
hi ya dude

awesome link bro, i must say. however, i did not see my model on the list. but sometimes they are similar and can therefore be operated on in the same way.
but don't worry, i might be able to use this cool link in the future and it may prove useful:good:
thanks again!

The 6530b is easy. Just unscrew a screw or two on the bottom, then pull those small rectangular tabs downward and pull up.
