Putting a cpu in its socket 775

I'm building a new pc, I think the cpu is in the right orientation, (notches match up) but it doesn't feel like anything is slotting into anything else, so i'm worried about pushing the lever down. Is this right? should it feel like the lever needs a bit of force?

i remember thinking the same thing the first time i put a CPU in... as long as everything is aligned properly, you are fine.

Since there are no pins on the Socket 775, you won't get the familiar 'feel' of a Pentium 4 dropping in if this is your first time using a 775. As the other have said, so long as the little arrow is aligned properly, everything will be fine. Slight force is needed when going to lock the lever in place and it's perfectly normal.
