Putting my graphics card into my computer

Just bought a new graphics card- GV N66256DP. No idea about computers, how do I put it into my computer? Just slot it into the motherboard?
 
You want to put it in the slot that is either green or brown whichever you have. But first did you have a card in there before?

What slot do you have in your computer AGP, PCI, PCI E. agp is brown pci is white and pcie is black and what kind of videocard did you get agp pci or pcie.

Not always, my PCI-E slot is light blue :P
 
If you have an agp port, then it should be the one above all the other ones, maybe situated a bit to the right.
 
I have heard that this type of graphics card overheats easily and blows, i live in hot a place- should i take it back and get a different one?

Check your system temps. If your computer runs hot, and doesn't have much airflow, then a silent video card is not the best idea.

you cant rely on color, pci is almost always white, but agp can be brown orange or green and pcie can be white black orange, or blue.



Anyways, To install it(Assuming you do have a AGP slot, which is most of the time brown, but more relibaly the top slot above the PCI slotS)you first need to take the old one out(unless you have intergrated and thats what you were using) to do so you need to push or pull on the white lock on the end of the slot(right) to unlock the card, then you slimly need to hold on to the ends and gentley pull the card out., then you need to gently push the new card in untill the lock at the end snaps into place.

Well when I log into my computer one of the areas of the computer is always too hot, th rest are ok. So not knowing anything about graphics cards, what type should i go for?

You need to know the socket before you can buy one. It's either PCI, AGP, or PCI-E. If you can tell us the model number of the computer and/or motherboard, we should be able to find it for you.
 
The model number is -

SF-AV50612/m16

Does that mean anything to you?

Just make sure you have decent airflow. Don't worry too much about overheating/blowing unless your card is idling at a very high temp and sounds very loud. My 7800 GS is a beefy AGP, its very quiet at idle around 50C but when gaming it sounds like an airplane at around 65-70C.
 
Took the graphics card to the electronics shop. They told me that because the power or whatever was 6600 I should get a fan instead of replacing it. If I replaced it with 700o or 6200 then it wouldnt be as good for games. Maybe I will keep the graphics card and the fan disconnected when not playing games. Sound ok?
 
You dont think this over heating graphics card will burn my cpu out do you?

I have bought a fan, i guess even if the graphics card burns out it is no big deal, but if my CPU goes i will be ****ed, right? I guess I can replace that too.
