ok dumb question, but ima ask it anyway cuz i've never done it. and we actually tried it once, and EVERYONE got locked out, even tho we had a connection. but how do you put a password on wireless internet? our neighbor is taking our internet, and we wanna put a password to lock him out, as well as to just keep it more secure. but as i said, we tried once and it looked as tho we had a connection, web pages wouldnt load up.

we have a linksys wireless router, and microsoft vista on all PC's

Read your manual or Google the router you have. The default password should be admin or administrator. For linksys wired routers the username is 192.168.1.1 and needs to be entered in a browser (Firefox, IE) in order to access. From inside the router you can enable WEP protection, or whatever security protocol your router supports. And for future reference I believe it is a crime to steal someone elses internet!

Hi there.
We recently done this and we have completed our session in locking my wireless network, router and to avoid people from using the internet located in my room.

Try going into routerlogin.com
and enter your default password if you have not changed it already.
- Then go to network security and check the box (WEP OR WPA)
- enter a small or large character Network key and make sure you write it down so that you can remember it next time if something happens.
- you will need your network key if you want another computer to connect to your own network (so basically you can have two or more pc's connected to your internet)

any problems, let me know ~:D
-
p.s. if routerlogin.com does not work for you, i am happy to give you a free network locking software.

goood luck :D

soooo...i tried to do the above steps...and yeah. i dno what happened, but it kicked us all off the internet. at one point it asked for a password, which i typed what i typed in the passkey, but nothing worked. other times it would just try to connect, then fail. repeatedly. so i clicked the reset button on the router to get everything back to normal.

so yeah ummm....if you wouldnt mind sending that software? :) thanks!

oh and i tried routerlogin.com. says the link is broken :(

best option is to read the manual.
another one is to reset all your configuration to default then reconfigure it. :)

sometimes its easier to start from scratch.
