Q6600 2.4 running at 75-80 degrees C

while running world of warcraft.. is this safe.. i havent seen temps like this before .. at least havent noticed it.. i just wanna make sure im fine.. dont wanna burn something out

thats way too hot, I suggest you buy a decent Cpu cooler. I have a thermaltake v1 and it works like a charm at load about 36c.

When's the last time you blew out the inside of your case?

I would remove the heatsink and reapply thermal paste
immediately. It takes about 10 minutes to do it properly.

Take the side cover off if you have to for now, and don't play that
game until your new cooler arrives.

Those are oblivion temps...

Wow that's really hot, you sure your heatsink is having full contact with the CPU? My Q6600 @ stock maxes out at 62C running 2 orthos, but mind you I have only two low RPM 120mm fans.

i believe i resolved the issue... i removed the stock heatsink and fan and the thermal paste that was on it was old and litterally flaking off.. so i cleaned all that off and i took some of the arctic silver 5 paste i got 2 days ago that im gonna be using with my new heat sink and put that on for the time being.. now im seeing temps around 40 degrees idle and 55-58 degrees at load...im a bit relieved now...
