Q6600 multiplier

Just got my Q6600 along with HS and mobo. Checked CPUz and it says Im @ 1.8GHZ Core Speed with a 6x multiplier. My FSB is @ 299. WIndows says I'm at 2.7GHZ, is my Q6600 underclocking to save energy or something? Should I disable this in BIOS or does it not affect performance when I need it? What is the Q6600's true multiplier at?

You have it exactly correct, it is underclocking itself when its not in use to save power. The true multiplier is 9. If you want to disable to power saving features, go into the BIOS and disable C1E and Intel Speedstep. But you really arent losing any performance by leaving them on

Ok thx, I used PC Wizard in game and my CPU was @ 3GHZ @ 333FSB. I guess ill leave power save on since it makes me feel even kewler with my new Q6600 :). How high can the Q6600 OC without a voltage change?

what stepping? G0 can usually get to around 2.8

Im @ 3.0GHZ with Voltage @ 1.144. What is the most common OC? I want to get the most out of this CPU without sacrificing other things. Does it matter on cooling? What temp should you stop OCing at? My CPU temp avg is 35.5 idle atm, im hoping the AS5 will lower the temps after a couple days of stress tests.
