which would be better for gaming... as i have heard, the e6850 is better for games as of now... but for games like crysis, will the e6850 maybe still out perform the q6600 because of higher ghz?? but it also has much higher fsb... which is a bad thing isnt it??

I got a Q6600 myself, and I really cant complain about it so far.

tough, its a shame not many programs actually use 4 corses or whatever, but i gues that'll come soon enough :)

I have a Q6600, and one of the cores refuses to pass 3.2ghz. My temps are low, I'm at 3ghz and will suggest going with the e6850 seeing as how much farther you can overclock it and how few programs actually use multi cores ;_;

Single programs don't "utilize" multi cores (yet), but if you run multiple programs then all cores will be utilized. And that's also a lie about not many things supporting multi-core.. there are tons of games out now that do. You may be able to overclock a 6850 more (probably a large amount on paper but when you compare the difference it isn't very much in benchmarks) but the quad will still outperform. and no, higher FSB is not a bad thing.. =/

If you have money to flush away on a new computer every year or two, then go with the the e6850 as it will outperform the Q6600 in the short term. However, more and more games and applications will start to utilize quad core, making it much much much more future-proof and better for the long run, which is why I went with the Q6600 on my new computer. I bought the OEM version from ClubIT (b/c they can guarantee I'll get a G0); it cost me about $270.
