Hi guys,

Is there anyone out there who has a similar machine to mine and managed to stably overclock it over 3GHz?
I am a noob in overclocking but i want my machine to run faster... (WHO DOESNT)
my setup is as followed:

q9450
asus rampage formula
corsair pc8500 @1066
arctic cooloing freezer 7 pro
XFX9800GTX

in the bios, everythin is set to AUTO and to be honest, i have no idea how the voltages and currents safely overclock the cpu?!?

Is there a good tutorial out there somewhere? or even better someone who has a similar setup who could help me on the way?

cheers

just up the front side bus(fsb) you should be able to get there without upping the voltage on anything, there should be a menu that says advanced options, or something along those lines

I cant necessarily say what your quad cpu can/cant be pushed to as I am duo2 but go slow with it and you will get past 3ghz...

Go into your bios--hit DEL when you boot up

Go to 'extreme tweaker'

Change your multiplier to 9.0

Change FSB a few notches

click F10 and that will reboot...you can see on post screen the change it has made to your speed.

Go slowly, and if you machine crashes or reboots or says overclocking failed--you need to go back in and retry.

See what you can raise the FSB to without upping voltage.

You can also save your OC profile for the days you need/want to put it to stock, lower, higher, and then you have profile that will change it all for you to previous settings..very helpful when my roomate borrows my machine--

I think Mep916( A Moderator on this Forum) runs a Q9450 with Asus formula MB.You could ask him what his settings are? I think his ram is different though. I am not sure but isnt 8.0 the highest Multi you can get with a Q9450?
