QQ, are SATA II boards ALL backwards compatable with SATA harddrives?

The title all I need to know for my next upgrade. I know the cables and sockets are identical, and only the 1.5gbits/s as opposed to 3gbits/s transfer rates seperate SATA and SATA II, but I just want to be sure my SATA harddrive will run on ANY motherboard specificed as SATA II without mention of SATA.
