Quad core on AM2

I have a Gigabyte AM2 Motherboard that will support a quad core, is there any benefit to replacing my 5000+ BE with a quad on and AM2 board? The board is not AM2+

If you have support for 125watt processors, yes it will be quite an upgrade, but if it just supports 95watt processors then, no, it wouldn't really be worth it, unless you multitask a lot.

BTW: Why do you have your 5000+ underclocked to 2.4ghz? Thats a BE, why don;t you go up to 3.2ghz?

I'm not going to lie.............I have never tried and I'm not sure how :o

According to the website it will support up to 125 Watt.

*Note: If you install AMD AM2+ CPU on AM2 motherbord, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0(5200MHz) to HT1.0(2000 MT/s) spec; however, the frequency of AM2+ CPU will not be impacted. Please refer "CPU Support List" for more information.

You can go into bios, you should have a M I T , or MB intelligent tweaker.
Click on CPU clock ratio , jack it up to about 14.5, this should give you app. 3ghz.
Personally I don´t go over 15. :)
