The conversion from pounds into US dollars would see $1747.50 approximately. That might just scare some away. 2gb of ram with a good sized hard drive works. A dvd burner and media card reader is usually a plus. Some will prefer a different brand lcd of course. The one thing that some will be looking at is a swap of the video card for an 8600 or 8800 series model.
 
Here I would simply take the cash and price shop for the best deals on hardwares whether individual or combo to shave costs and still end up with a high end build. The rest is simply preference.
