Quad monitors?

What would be a good graphix card for a quad monitor setup. I am looking for one that is budget friendly but reliable. thx in advance
 
What will be displayed on the monitors, and will it be going in the rig in your sig? If not, what PSU, case and motherboard are you going to be running?
 
well, i was thinking of using 4 1280x1024 LCD monitors in extended side-by-side setup in my computer. I don't really know what i want to use it for, as funny as it sounds i would just love to have a quad monitor setup, but the possibilities are endless, sound editing, video editing, security cam setup, or for people that just want itunes, firefox, WoW (windowed), and whatever else open on different screens.
 
I don't really game that much any more, i own some games, but most are 2009 and older, i think the only games that are heavy would be Grid, Dirt 2, or GTA4.
 
Assuming it is the rig in your sig you will be using (you didn't answer that one :P), you can get a second 4870 and run them out of crossfire, so each runs independently.

Or you could get a single video card, which would cost more as an initial investment, but give better performance, use less power, produce less heat and use up less space. Not knowing your budget:

Any of those will support 4 monitors, though you will need a monitor which either has a display port, or you will need a display port adapter.

They are listed in terms of performance, with the 6790 being the weakest (though still an excellent card) and the 6950 being the strongest (at stock speeds)

Does it matter what company manufactures the card, i.e. Sapphire, Asus, Gigabyte, etc?

and the warranty and quality of service, and in a lot of cases the PCB used, which will usually change the majority of components on board, so the GPU is the same, but the rest is all completely different

I would say all but the very low end manufacturer's, by which I mean:

Biostar
ECS
Palit
PowerColor
VisionTek

That isn't to say they are bad manufacturers, but from a hell of a lot of reports their quality of service is pretty poor, even if the cards are half decent, but then again they aren't manufactured by them directly, as very rarely do they use custom PCB's, so it is all Nvidia's supplier's work with a different heatsink put on (sometimes)
