Quad running as Dual core

I just got the Phenom 965 and it appears I only have 2 cores showing up. In task manager, cpuz, amd overdirve, all the utlilities show only 2 cores. any ideas.. ?
 
Open up cpuz then run a demanding game. My guess is two cores are basically idling, and the other 2 aren't even needed so they don't show. But if you make them needed they should show up. If that doesn't work I'm clueless.
 
I use Core Temp - and it displays all 4 cores - regardless of whether they're being used or not. Try it on your pc and see if you're getting 4 cores to display. If not, I'd contact the mfr and/or retailer for a possible RMA.

Had you been fooling with ACC in the bios before you installed the 965? Try resetting the bios and see what happens.
 
I did 3dmark score and got 14000 which is lower than my 550 which was 15000. Loading times are noticably longer with this cpu....
 
I just upgraded the cpu... other componets are year old...

I guess I got a defective cpu ....

Win7 Ultimate 64bit .... I went into device manager and under cpu it shows 4 cpus... but if go to task manager or any other program it shows up as 2cores 2 threads...

go to it in device manager, right click and select "update driver" this may help
