QuadCore ina Shuttle..?

I'm sure it'll be fine. You won't get phenomenol temperatures and will probably get little OC headroom, but the cooling system should hold. Shuttles have many nifty cooling setups. On a side note, why build a Shuttle? Why not just go ITX? It'll probably come out cheaper.

The Mini-ITX standard is smaller than shuttle motherboards. It has only 1 expansion slot and 1 or 2 memory slots. Here's an example of a Mini-ITX AM3 motherboard.

It comes with built in wireless and bluetooth and has 1 PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot (for your video card) and 2 DDR3 SODIMM slot (requires laptop memory).
You can pair it up with a case like this:

which comes with a small 300 watt powersupply

or you can get something like this:

that takes regular ATX power supply.

Going mini-ITX will offer you much more customizations.

hmm.. ima have to piece some stuff together n see what it comes out to.. cuz i got a damn good list for a shuttle and it totals ta $700

i like that Lian Li case! might have to chart somethin with that

I recently bought a computer with an Apevia "shuttle looking" case locally on craigslist, and there is a cross/support beam running right over where my CPU is. This limits putting lots of good air coolers in the case. Might have to mod it. :D

I am not too sure of the internal structure in a shuttle case, but, it may be something you should look into.

I do have that processor right now in my rig, I love it. I have a closed loop water cooler, similar to the Corsair H70. I am running at 25C with chrome open.

well i dont plan to use it for extreme gaming or anything.. just to do alot of internet associating, music/movies.. media in general. and for it to take up hardy any room, and the mobility is sweet.. so a shuttle kinda fits really good.. & the only game that i would possibly play on it would be CS.

Ahh, I see. Yeah, you should be perfectly fine with a stock cooler and a decent exhaust case fan.

On the portability note, yeah, I love that. Its my desktop, but not really. Its my laptop, but not really. ;)

I would personally go mini ITX then. If anything breaks you can at least buy replacement parts easily. With shuttle it's a pain in the ass to replace anything.

well if im not mistaken.. the more cores the smoother ur multi-taskin is.. and i make music and run differ apps sooo, i think those core will come in quite handy.. cuz when i hook up my axiom49 & mpc500 together then run them to the PC.. im sure those cores will come in handy once again.. haha

(plus if im not makin music, im ALWAYS listenin to music no matter whats runnin, unless its a movie playin. so i always have a good bit of stuff up & runnin at the same time)

and thats a very good point "diduknowthat", so i will be lookin into the ITX platforms even deeper.
