quake help

For some reason i can't get multiplayer on quake 4; it wont find any servers. I think it may have something to do with the fact that that im using a router (D-link 704UP). Is there any way i can forward a port or something to get it to work? Thnx in advance. ps sorry if this is a stupid question cause im sort of new to this

I doubt it is your router. Do you have punkbuster installed? When browsing for servers are you choosing "Internet"?

no i don't have punkbuster. don't even know what it is. and yes, i am choosing "internet".

When you install the game it asks you to install Punkbuster. It is anti cheat software. Could be possible that servers are not showing up because you don't have it installed. I don't honestly know that for sure though.

Yeah, and make sure that you have it patched to the most current version... Should automatically do it if you are connecting to the master server, but not necessarily.
