Quality eternal hard drive

Any suggestion for an external hard drive that will not die in less than a month ?

I don't care that much about size or the storage capacity (as long as it's over 250 go, but I think it's the case for pretty much all modern external hard drive).
 
Stay away from Western Digital. We get their MyBook drives in at least once a week for failure/data-recovery.

Honestly, you'd probably be about as well off to build your own. Just find an internal drive that has high rating and a case that has equally high rating. I guess if I were building one, I'd probably go...

Haha, are you serious? I swear those things are dying left and right. And it's not just the cheap ones. We had a high-end MyBook come in (Firewire 800, eSATA, etc) with a Caviar Black drive inside. Honestly, I'm wondering if there's a problem with their enclosures that kills the drives rather than the drives themselves. Besides the Caviar Green drives and the Scorpio Blue drives, their internal drives are quite reliable.
 
WD HDD's fail a lot eh? I bought one a few years ago and havent had much trouble with it, but I dont run it but a few weeks a year (backups).

I've noticed that it gets pretty warm when running, feels like its about 45C, thats kinda warm for a HDD. If I were to use it on a more regular basis I'd probably open up the vent holes some and add a small fan to it. That may sound like overkill, but I'd rather not lose my backups! I just may do that this summer.
