Ok.......... i was going to try to fix a past issue i have. have not done it yet. It it makes any diff its an Intel Core quad and intel motherboard DQ35J0 Intel.
Have the orginal XP disc. Went to bios and set cd to 1st boot device. Rebooted and asked if i want to boot from cd (yes or no). say yes and boots to XP.

Heres the other part of the story. I called this friend that built the computer. He's an Intel rep. His comment was I have two Baracuda HD's and 5 duel layer burners. he said disconnect the 2nd HD and disconnect 4 of the burners and it will boot fine. Now im not doubting what he said but think this is a pain in the assss. Im trying to do a recovery if it will work. If not i will format as needed. Anybody have a quick or fix for this?

Love this place...........ain't this sheet the greatest!

It depends on the motherboard. I've seem some have multiple cdrom drives in bios to boot to. On most motherboards you can only set the master cdrom drive to be bootable. But what you can do is go into your bios and make sure only your master cdrom is set to first or second boot device, depending on if you have a floppy drive installed which would be first boot device. Then make sure you have your HDD set as second or third boot device, again depending on if you have a floppy drive or not. Then disable all other boot devices.

IF your trying to boot up a system with SATA drives then you need either a Windows XP SP2/SP3 disc or install the SATA drivers for the mobo first. It is also helpfull to just have 1 Optical and the HDD your installing on to be the only drives in the system to prevent problems that tend to pop up.
