Question About Brands?

I've just been looking at a computer.

It's a Core 2 Q6600
2GB RAM
500GB HD

And under Features it says:
"Integrated Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1650 256MB (512MB Hypermemory) PCI-E 16X Video Card; delivers stunning 3D graphics, excellent performance, and all the extensive features of a high-end graphics processor.

Integrated???? Does that mean it's not actually a card? and would this be the same as a normal X1650?

All this for $1000

The only thing is it's an "Acer Aspire". Now I've never heard of this brand, so I'm not sure if it's good. I know HP is good and DEll is supposed to be alright. But has anyone heard of "Acer Aspire"?

Intergrated means that the card is built into the motherboard. For all purposes you can consider it the same as a regular 1650 XX graphics card.

It's not a bad build for a pre-built, but there are still questions to be answered, such as the motherboard make, PSU, etc.
 
If you plan on doing any gaming, stay away from integrated video cards. They will never work as well as a stand alone card. Plus you can upgrade later on easier with a stand alone card. Trying to upgrade a board that has integrated video can be a pain. You have to go into the bio's and de-select the onboard card. Also there can be conflicts with the new video card.

But if you know what your doing you can get around it.

Acer is an old brand. In the early days they were cheap systems that no one wanted. I have heard that they have gotten better, but I can not say for certain. Myself, I would not own one, but that's me.

Are you certain you can not build your own? It really is very easy to do. And you will get exactly what you want for cheaper than buying an already built system.

You probably know someone that can build it for you. If there is anyway possible, I urge you to build your own.
 
With new Bios you dont have to disable the integrated video most dont even have a option in the Bios, once you put in
the new " card " and disable the drivers in device manger you are good to go.

And sometimes it can be a pain to put in a new card.
But is only that until you get the integrated video drivers disabled windows will be unsure what video card to send the signle to so you may have to
plug you monitor into the other one if you dont get no video when windows loads.

IMO I would not buy a Acer or a Dell, I will only buy HP prebuilt
