Question about dual monitors....

I just got my 22" Samsung, and am running dual monitors with my other 17" no name.

The thing is when i go to play a game full screen on my 17" my Samsung goes black and doesn't display an image. Is there any way of getting it to stay at the desktop?

Thanks! :)

EDIT: Also i was wondering if there is a way i can get a window to only go full size in the screen that it's in rather then in both screens.

I just got rid of my 17" monitor, but I used to have a 22" and 17" as well, haha.

To keep the second monitor displaying the desktop, you would need to run the game in windowed mode. This may not be the only solution, because some of my games would allow the second monitor to display the desktop while I gamed in full screen.

To get a window to go full screen in only one of the displays, "un-maximize" the window, drag it over to the other monitor, and re-maximize it.

Yeah, i got it to run in windowed mode. :)

When i dragged it and re-maximized it, it goes across both screens.

I also recently did some sort of dual monitor wizard from Nvidia but i think one of the options would have fixed this, not sure though. I picked span to get the image across both monitors but there was another option 'DualView' where i configure each monitor independently from each other. Do you think that option would do what i want it to?

Yes mate, you will want to use Dual View... this will make all windows maximize only on the monitor they are on etc...

I cant think of any reason to use the one that stretches the picture across both monitors lol

Oh yeah, you need to have them configured independently from one another. Then just drag and remaximize and that should solve the problem.

UHM I dont think so because dual monitors will sometime make on big monitor so that could be ur problem

What do you mean by that?

And if you mean the differing resolutions would cause the problem, it shouldn't. I was running a 17" at 1440x900 in a dual monitor setup with a 22" 1680x1050.

You'll want to 'expand your desktop' onto the second monitor. That way it'll act independently from the first. Meaning you can maximize a Window in each monitor and have things displayed on the second monitor while you game.

I found the easiest way to set it all up was through the Windows options, instead of using nVidia's Control Panel.
