Question about External Hard Drive

I bought a Toshiba 160GB portable drive. It came with preloaded backup software. I do not wish to use this software. Can I just drag and drop folders into the Ext Hard Drive under "Computer" on Vista? Or do I have to use the backup software to make backup folders on the External Hard Drive? Thanks!

What will reformating the drive do? Can I just keep it as is, load the backup software onto my desktop and just not use it? If I do this can I then drag and drop folders onto the Ext HD?

Reformatting it will get rid of the software and what do you need the back up software for anyway???? and because the software is installed onto the external hard drive, no you can't load it onto your desktop.

I was thinking of keeping it on the Ext HD in case I decided in the future that I wanted to use it. In either case (whether I keep the software or not) can I just drag and drop folders/files onto the Ext HD under My Computer?

Just use it as a drag and drop drive. If you run into a problem then you always have the software to use.

even Copy + Paste will work, why would you need software to put stuff onto an external storage device??? isn't windows explorer software?:rolleyes:
