Hi guys, I have a Full HD 1080p monitor .
Now i have it connected to my computer through a DVI connection but my question is if i connect it from my computer to my monitor through a HDMI cable will this improve quality ?
I mean am i meant to be connecting it through a HDMI cable get 100% out of my monitor ?
or is DVI and HDMI similar ?

hdmi is dvi with sound.

Well i'll be connecting my z-680 to my pc with a coax to get digital sound so does that mean it wont make a difference if i just leave the DVI setting ?

Some1 told me that switching to hdmi will improve the quality greatly .
=/ im still confused

DVI and HDMI are exactly the same as one another as far as image quality is concerned. The difference is that HDMI carries audio as well as video, and uses a different type of connector, but both use the same encoding.

"Yes it will improve both the picture and the sound quality. Although Dvi is also a digital signal it isn't high definition, so therefore the quality wont be as good."

This is what that guy said.

sounds like a salesman. as far as i know the only differences are the sound and the length of cable without loss of quality. hdmi can be longer.

The quality will be the same, HDMI has a wider bandwith and in some cases can allow a higher resolution but the quality at that resolution will not alter.

Perhaps it's just a play on words :)

Im guessing it's a salesmen trying to steal your money with one of those $3 hdmi cables being sold for $50. It will be the same.
