hey guys, i was browsing ebay being bored and found a decent deal for an older apple imac powerpc g3, 400 mhz, 30gb hdd for about 100 bucks, works great, and has osx panther i think, maybe tiger.

anyways, is this thing worth getting? my laptop died, and i have always wanted a mac, would this be a good one to start off with, its cheap so if i dont care for it, i wont be out much. ive played with macs before and love them, but compatibility is sometimes a bitch. let me know what you guys think, also what kind of things i can do with that type of speed. thanks let me know!!!

the older macs are extremely limited...i dont know how they do it, but theyve usually always made up for the seeming deficit in processor speed....however, what is it youre planning on doing with this computer? are you just going to be doing basic stuff, like word processing, internet crap, etc? i cant remeber the older macs being much better for anything else.

as for compatibility, its not so much an issue anymore...just because, although macs are still a huge minority, theyve grown considerably more user-friendly. theyre converting lots of games that you could only once play on windows to operate on mac. now all they need to do is convert them to linux.......grrr
